기존의 TAOS 제품군은 조도센서, 근접센서, 근조도센서, Light-to-Digital 센서, Light-to-Frequency 센서, Linear Sensor Array, Light-to-Voltage 등이 있음. AMS의 제품군은 오디오, 데이터 컨버터, 인터페시스 제품, 라이팅 매니지먼트 제품, 마그네틱 엔코더, 모바일 엔터테인먼트, 파워컨버터, 전력관리 등 다양한 제품을 다루고 있으며, 특히 파운드리를 같이 운영하고 기존에 다양한 아나로그 제품에 대해서 생산하였기 때문에 TAOS와의 시너지 효과가 있을 것으로 예상됨.

   

   

한편 작년 7월에 미국의 센서 기술 전문업체인 Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions (TAOS)을 인수한 오스트리아마이크로시스템즈는 최근 급성장하고 있는 스마트폰 및 태블릿 PC 시장에서의 경쟁력을 더욱 강화하고 있다. 이를 통해 양사가 보유하던 조명 센서 집적 기술 포트폴리오를 넓힘으로써 휴대용 기기뿐 아니라 일반 조명의 다양한 조명 관리 솔루션으로 이 분야의 선두기업으로 발돋움한다는 청사진을 내놓았다.

   

이러한 합병의 결과 프린터 등에 유용하게 사용되는 각종 라이팅 센서와 칼라 센서 뿐 아니라 각종 모바일 기기의 디스플레이 관리 솔루션 분야에서도 시장을 선도하겠다는 계획을 수립한 상태이다. 파워매니지먼트에 라이팅, 플래쉬 기능을 집적시킨 제품들을 통해 향후 2년 이상 새로운 기술의 흐름을 주도한다는 게 이 회사의 전략이다.

2011년 7월 22일 – 선도적인 글로벌 컨슈머, 통신, 산업, 의료, 자동차 시장용 고성능 아날로그 IC (집적 회로) 설계 및 제조사인 오스트리아마이크로시스템즈 (지사장: 양창수)가 미국 텍사스 플라노에 있는 Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions 주식회사(이하 TAOS) 의 주식 100%의 인수 거래를 끝마쳤다고 발표했다.

이에 따라TAOS 인수 대금인 약 3억2천만 달러의 일부로 2,706,840 주의 오스트리아마이크로시스템즈 무액면 무기명주가 기존의 공인 자본 이외에 자본금 증식의 방편으로 발행되어 TAOS의 특정 주주들이 소유한 Twilight S가 이를 관리하게 된다. 자본금 증가에 따른 회사의 법정 일반 공유 자본은 주당 EUR 2.4224로 계산된 13,753,092 주의 일반 무액면 무기명주로 나뉜다.

신규 발행되는 오스트리아마이크로시스템즈의 주식은 Main Standard 에 따라서 SIX 스위스 증권 거래소에 상장되어 거래를 허가받았다. SIX 스위스 증권 거래소에는 2011년 7월 15일부로 상장되어 거래가 시작되었다.

성공적인 거래의 완료에 따라서 오스트리아마이크로시스템즈는 TAOS 주주 중 두 명의 대표를 감사회로 선임하는 임시 주주총회를 가까운 시일에 개최할 예정이다.

The Cupertino location will be the site for a growing staff of field sales and application engineers to support the expanding business in Northern California.
